With MSc. degree in Metallurgical engineering (Microscopic point of view) after his BSc. in Mechanical engineering (Macroscopic view) – and a gap of 13 years work experiences in between- Siavash has developed a better understanding of defects in pipeline and ways to assess and evaluate them in FFS with both mechanical and metallurgical aspects.
key competencies:
Familiarity with standards including ASME, API, BS, ISO, Shell DEP, DNV, DOT 49 CFR part 192 & 195, etc.
A comprehensive understanding of material, Welding, fracture mechanics, Cathodic Protection and corrosion principles. Strong research interests and skills in this sector.
Understanding of pipeline integrity management systems including dynamic segmentation, HCA identification, risk assessment (Qualitative & Quantitative), inspection techniques, defect assessment procedures, pipeline repair methods and threat identification & mitigation measures.
Calculation of remaining life assessment of corroded and damaged pipeline sections and defect assessments (based on ASME B31G, Modified B31G, Rstreng, Shell92, DNV F101-part B, PDAM, API 579-1/ASME FFS-1, KAPA, etc.)
Research, analytical, mathematical and programming skills to enhance engineering capabilities.
Sound knowledge of GIS systems (PODS & UPDM- Utility and Pipeline Data Model) and its value for any PiMS data model.
Extensive experience in consulting, evaluation of assessment results, Risk model configuration, Pipeline integrity Audit, HCA and unusual sensitive area identification.
Keenly aware of defect clustering criteria and probabilistic approach for ILI defects (API 1163 and Markov methodology for pipeline defects).
